The golf simulator was never the point

For the last several years, I've become fascinated by engagement. Not the buzzword. The real thing.

What makes someone feel welcome in a room? What makes them participate instead of observe? Why do some events create connection while others are forgotten before people get to the parking lot?

I've explored those questions through membership work, conferences, networking events, strategic planning, and speaking.

At the same time, I became a golf mom. Then a golfer.

And as much as I loved the game, I kept noticing something else: golf can be incredibly fun, social, and welcoming... but it can also feel intimidating, exclusive, and built around assumptions about who belongs.

The more I played, the more I found myself thinking about what a golf experience could look like if it were designed differently.

More approachable. More social. More intentional.More focused on the people than the score.

That's where & Nine came from. Not from a love of golf technology. From a belief that experiences can be designed.

This journal is where I'll share some of the lessons, frameworks, experiments, and observations that sit underneath both sides of my work. Some will be about events. Some will be about engagement. Some will be about golf. Most will be about people.

Thanks for being here.
